No Membership Needed
You do not need a club membership to play good pickleball in this state. These 117 municipal and county park facilities run on the paddle rack: you show up, put your paddle in the queue, and rotate in with whoever is next. Court time costs nothing at the large majority of them.
A fence-mounted rack holds paddles in arrival order. Four paddles at the front make the next game. Winners usually stay one game and then re-rack. Nobody will explain this to you unprompted — say you're new and someone will.
7:30–10 a.m. is prime everywhere south of Ocala, and it is when the strongest local groups play. Evenings work if the courts have lights. Noon in July is a bad idea even for locals.
A handful of city parks charge non-residents a small daily fee, and a few of the biggest tournament complexes charge for court reservations while keeping open play free. Each listing links the venue's own phone and site so you can confirm before driving.
