Early May excursion. Water temp, 81. Arrived 45 minutes early as stated. Waited 1 hour for boarding. We had our own equipment but they rent everything. Safety briefing then boarding. About 30 minutes to go out 6 miles to Grecian reef. Current & the number of boats limit seeing the Christ of the Abyss. Water visibility approximately 40feet. The reef was 8 - 20 feet in depth. Saw a manta ray & various fish species. Crew kept every one safe & comfortable for their experience level (I’m a certified diver but I’m also 72). Enjoyable experience for any age.

SO MUCH FUN, truly an underwater playground! We did a snorkeling tour and had an absolute blast. Afterwards we hung around the park, hiked a bunch. I also loved the outdoor showers and bath house.

This was the first place we stopped at on our journey down through The Keys. We initially wanted to hire bikes on Key Largo but soon realised we would have to cycle on the main road which wasn't very appealing. We drove on until we spotted the sign for The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. It was around 2.30pm when we arrived so thought we would just go for a walk, it was a warm but windy day. All the boat trips were cancelled due to the wind, but kayaking was still open. We hired a double kayak, after signing our waivers, the guide gave us a laminated map and told us which areas not to go down due to the wind. All of the narrow parts of the mangroves were signposted aswell. It was a fantastic experience, so calm and pretty. Would highly recommend a visit to this state park if you are visiting The Keys.

We booked the noon snorkel tour and it was an incredible experience. The captain was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor, which made the trip even more enjoyable. The reef they took us to had absolutely crystal-clear water and was perfect for beginner snorkeling. The boat itself was great too, with space up front for bow riding and some awesome photo opportunities. The park is very well maintained and clean, and the snorkel/dive shop is a nice bonus. If you're looking to snorkel in Key Largo, this is definitely the place to go.

We did a 9:00am snorkeling tour through the park. They took us to grecian rocks. Adam was our captain. I cannot forvthe life of me remember his crews name. They were both amazing. The snorkeling experience was amazing as we were all newbies. I took my husband and two children. We were in about 10 feet of water. We saw a ton of amazing colorful fish. We saw lots of coral, queen conch shells, and two different species of sting rays. Top 10 experience of my life. 10 out of 10 recommend to anyone who has never been snorkeling! The aquarium afterwards was awesome as well.
