We were vacationing in Palm Coast and wanted to take a tennis lesson while we were in town. Joe Frascogna was easy to get in touch with, very welcoming, and an excellent coach. He gave us personalized instruction and specific skills that will truly help improve our game on the court. We were all very impressed with both his teaching style and knowledge of tennis. The Southern Recreation Center was also very welcoming from the moment we arrived, and the front desk staff was especially friendly and helpful. We appreciated that they welcomed first time visitors and that we could pay East Coast Elite Tennis (Joe) directly for the lesson. I highly recommend taking lessons with Joe whether you’re local or just visiting. We will definitely be back!

While I think the tennis center is nice, large, well-maintained and in a good area (tucked behind the fire department) - it isn’t really available anytime for anyone just to go play tennis for fun. They have hours they are open and do a lot of programs, lessons, etc here so for that it’s great but for people who just want to go play tennis for fun on a whim it isn’t good. Nice little garden area, dog parks for those who use them, wonderful new restroom facilities near the walking trail (best!), water station, a couple of benches. Picnic tables would be nice. Haven’t been inside the rec center. Not sure what is in there or if I’ll ever have a need to go inside. Leaving area late afternoon is NOT fun. Be prepared to sit and wait.

Absolutely beautiful and spectacular. Nothing was spared or left out in the design of this facility. Roomy bathrooms and showers, amazing and delicious counter service restaurant. Fantastic covered courts and more outside courts. Lots more in the future expansion!

I would like to share my impressions of tennis lessons with coach Elliott James in Palm Coast, Florida. I want to highlight the wide range of activities organized at the Southern Recreation Center. I was pleasantly surprised by the care and attention city management demonstrates by creating excellent conditions for children and adults who want to stay healthy, which encouraged me to give it a try. From the very first moments, my wife and I were greeted at the front desk with friendly smiles and professional answers to all our organizational and financial questions. Every time we come to the classes, the staff works efficiently and joyfully, creating a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere that is especially comfortable for beginners. We have been incredibly lucky with our tennis coach. There were 14 people in our group, but thanks to Elliott James’s vast experience, my wife and I always felt his constant care and attention. As an educator with over 20 years of experience myself, I can confidently say that Elliott has a clear yet flexible lesson plan that allows him to accommodate the individual needs of each student. He never misses an opportunity to take an extra step to help everyone succeed. As a talented teacher, Elliott always takes time to reflect on what we’ve learned and answer our questions. His sense of humor and incredible personality make the learning process not only productive but genuinely enjoyable. We have already completed two cycles of lessons and eagerly look forward to continuing in September. I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful coach to anyone who wants to learn this exciting sport.

Beautiful clay courts. Well maintained. Great lineup of programming for all ages and levels of play. The staff is great.
