Bari M Guzikowski· 3 months agoBeautiful little sanctuary in Wellington. Lots of birds and other wildlife to see and hear. The sanctuary itself is a bit of a walk from the parking lot. What helped me know I'm in the right place is reading other reviews that have the word "entrance" in them and looking at Google Maps using satellite view to see where it is. Took away a star as it is not as quiet as other reserves, being next to the new aquatic center (I visited on a Sunday where lots of screaming kids are in the pool). However don't let that deter you from coming, the boardwalk is clean and the place has walkways where you can go "off-roading" where it is just grass and you can really feel like you are part of the wildlife as the water is right there within reach. It's just not as quiet as a place like Green Cay where it's more secluded from main travel ways. I just love that there's a little place with nature and peace here in Wellington where one can go to walk, sit, relax. Fyi boardwalk is 7/10 of a mile.
Bonnie I· 4 months agoStopped for photos at a sanctuary in the midst of soccer fields and industry, and found birds, turtles, and something to see at every turn. The Purple Martin houses were busy, we saw herons, egrets, ducks including one Mandarin, Roaseate Spoonbills, Osprey hunting, Egyptian Geese, Sandhills Cranes and more. Boardwalk and grassy walks, I once saw an otter but not on this occasion, but understand they are there.
Carolyn Can· 6 months agoThere is a nice bridge over water to look at wild life. It is peaceful and calm. There are also different paths you can take too. We saw so many different birds and two times we saw an otter.

Jessica Cross· a year agoThis place is an absolute gem. The trails are beautiful and well-maintained as is the boardwalk, and so much wildlife to see—birds, turtles, reptiles and even a few apple snails along the way. It’s perfect for slowing down and connecting with nature. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape, this is the place (but maybe avoid the weekends when there’s sporting events going on). Leave it wild.
