Brian Lutz (Backhand City)· a year agoThis new 24 court facility opened in Jan 2024 is a Mecca for pickleball lovers in North Palm Beach County. The best part is the layout. There is ample room on the sidelines so there is both physical and mental space between your own court and neighboring courts. They also have large umbrella and ample seating throughout the center of the property that give it a signature look. The fencing is a bit low for wind purposes. I think higher fences at least 8 ft would be minimum but local zoning allows on 6 feet on side max. This site has 4 ft. It’s also next to I-95 so you have highway buzz similar to Caloosa park in Boynton beach. They also lack gates with fence dividers between courts so you will get more interruption from errant balls than usual because of this design flaw. Prices are steep for non residents ($15 per day)but you may buy seasonal passes if you are a frequent player. Big discounts for local residents. Parking on side of facility and front. You will have to walk around to check in desk and you will see “no fence jumping” signs throughout. There is a lake next to courts so bring bug repellent just in case. Water stations by club house and inside courts. I went on Saturday night in June but the place was nearly empty (3 courts of action). They have staggered hours in morning and evening play. Like most public parks they frown upon instructors. So bring your First Amendment but leave your ball hopper at home.
Jennifer Leung· 8 months agoNo challenge courts, no paddle racking system, and no organization of courts by levels. Difficult to find play if you’re new to the area. Went on Saturday morning and it seems like everyone had their own foursome. Staff at the desk said they had those systems in place before but no one used them so they discontinued. He said we just have to go around and ask people if we can join their group. We ended up just leaving.
Darin Char· 6 months agoCourts should not cost money unless they're inside and there’s snow. Especially at a public park in Florida. Drove there and nobody was looking to play competitively outside their group. Not being cheap about paying. It’s a free sport and the staff do very little outside what park maintenance people already do. $18 six times and I have a new pair of pickleball shoes or a nice new paddle or a lesson.
lynn asher· 4 months agoI’m an advanced beginner and really want to find people to play with. It’s expensive to go to Russo so I decided to try this out early this morning. I noticed some people only had three people in the court and so I asked several if I could join them telling them that I am an advanced beginner and not one person wanted to play with me and just try me out. needless to say it was very hurtful but I guess this is how these Pickleball players are here.I will always be open to playing with someone not as good as me so no one feels rejected the way I did today.
Lauren O.· 8 months agoI’m new to the Palm Beach pickleball scene (not new to pickleball) and decided to give these courts a try. I arrived solo on a Sunday morning. The woman at registration was very nice and said I should ask people if I could join them. I asked two groups, and they said no. I left. It seems like a decent place to play if you already have your group, but I don’t recommend it for anyone who relies on the paddle rack system.
